This decoration was awarded to all mothers who raised 5 children. It was awarded at the first birthday of the last child, provided that the other 4 children remained alive. Children who had died under ‘respectful’ conditions were also counted. 
 
A very fine original Soviet Maternity Medal, 2nd class (5 children). Enamel shows some wear but displays well, a small chip is present on the right side of the mount on the photo. Working pin and catch, some discoloration and age visible on the reverse.
