This is a fine original Socialist Brigade flag, likely dating to the 1970's. It retains it's original wooden hanging pole. Embroidered on both sides, in excellent condition, displays beautifully. Approximately 38cm at it's longest.

The "Socialist Brigade Movement" was established in 1958. It was introduced in place of the Stakhanov movement, as a continuation of the labor competition movements commonly found in socialist countries. An important difference between these movements was that the Socialist Brigade Movement recognized a working group, as opposed to an individual worker.

According to contemporary propaganda, it was created at the initiative of workers: "for the political and economic strengthening of workers' power, for raising the standard of living of workers, and for raising general literacy."

The members of the brigade, which won the title of "Socialist Brigade" - received a diploma. For the second Socialist Brigade title, the brigade received the "Socialist Brigade" flag.
