A very nice medal here. This original US Army Distinguished Service Cross is in excellent condition with no major damage or wear, and a working pin and catch to the reverse. Based on the brooch, this is a post-WWII example - likely Vietnam era.
 
The Army Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) is the U.S. Army's second-highest military decoration for valor, awarded for extraordinary heroism in combat or conflict, just below the Medal of Honor. Established in 1918, it recognizes soldiers for acts of extreme gallantry against an enemy, even while serving with friendly foreign forces, and is equivalent to the Navy Cross and Air Force Cross.
