A pair of original medals awarded to winners in competitions held at Moscow's "Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy (VDNKh)" This lot includes one silver and one gold medal, but it should be noted that both are made of brass. Both medals are in good condition with only minor wear, and working pins on their reverse. Approximately 1" x 1.75" each.
Originally founded in Moscow in the late 1930s as the "All-Union Agricultural Exhibition" to be a year-round celebration of the achievements of the USSR, the huge, world fair-like, complex changed its name in 1956 to "Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy" when it was decided that its name needed to reflect the broader nature of the exhibits and competitions being held there.
Several judged competitions were held on the grounds virtually every week of the year and these medals were given to the winners.
