(Central Front) Sr. Sergeant Iskrenko D. E. has proven himself a courageous and brave commander. He was previously awarded the Medal for Combat Merits.

While breaching the Germans’ defenses outside of the village of Sevsk, he was in charge of
providing the battery with communications. Under bombing and fire, he personally repaired 38 breaks in the line. In battles for the hamlet of Maritsky on the 27th-28th, it was necessary to fire on enemy tanks.

Communications were severed by the explosion of enemy shells. Within 5 minutes, he repaired the
breakdown. Fire was opened and three enemy tanks were destroyed. In the combat area to enlarge the bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper, he quickly established communication [lines] across the river Dnieper, which facilitated timely fire by the battery.
