The Order of Maternal Glory was a Soviet civilian award commemorating mothers with a substantial number of children, created on 8 July 1944 by Joseph Stalin and established with a decision of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

The order was divided into three classes:

First class: mothers bearing and raising nine children.

Second class: mothers bearing and raising eight children.

Third class: mothers bearing and raising seven children.

This is a very fine example of the Order of Maternal Glory, 2nd class. Awarded to mothers of eight children. It is a type 2 award (with thick suspension ring). Serial number 962,494. Constructed of silver and enamels, working pinback on the reverse. Great condition, difficult to upgrade.
